Tell us about yourself:

My name is Kavita. I am the lead educator in the pre-kindergarten room. I have been a part of the Little Scholars team for almost five years. I was born in India. I studied Bachelor of Science In India and finished my studies in 2009. In 2013 I came to Australia and start exploring new careers. I’m now an Australian citizen and I have two children, one who is 10 years old and the other who is two years old. My partner is a software engineer.

In my role as an educator, I strive to provide love, care, and safe environments for children, offering them values and opportunities to explore, learn, discover, create, and imagine through play. I aim to develop each child's strengths, interests, skills, abilities, experiences, and knowledge to extend children's learning. My hobbies include cooking and dancing."

Where did you hear about the Fraser Foundation?

I heard about the Fraser Foundation through facebook and colleagues who mentioned the wonderful work and support they provide to professionals in early education.

How does it feel to be the recipient of a Fraser Foundation?

It feels incredibly rewarding and humbling.

What inspired you to dedicate your career to early education?

I was inspired to dedicate my career to early education because I believe that helping young children learn and grow is incredibly important. Seeing how a good start in education can positively shape a child's future motivated me to focus on early childhood development.

Do you observe any differences in early education or how children are raised between India and here? What made you decide to move from science to early education?

Yes, there are differences. In India, education is more focused on academics from a young age. Here, there's more emphasis on learning through play and overall development. I decided to move from science to early education because I wanted to help children learn and grow during their important early years

You clearly have a vested interest in education, how do you plan to pass down your passion for lifelong learning to the children in your care?

I plan to pass down my passion for lifelong learning by creating a fun and engaging environment where children feel excited to explore and discover new things. I want to encourage their curiosity and make learning a joyful experience.

How does your culture and background reflect your passion for teaching younger generations?

My culture values education and community, which has taught me the importance of helping others learn and grow. This background motivates me to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all children, where they feel valued and inspired to learn.
