What inspired you to dedicate your career to early education?
I have been lucky enough to be in and around the sector growing as my mother is a dedicated early childhood professional. I originally stumbled into the position out of high school, unsure of what I wanted to pursue. I quickly fell in love with the kindergarten environments, children and the programs. 10 years later, I have never looked back.
Family is a big theme in your story, can you share?
I am currently expecting my first child with my partner, which we were lucky enough to find out after years of infertility at the completion of my studies! I also come from a very large extended family, and am one of four children. I have two older brothers and a twin sister who shares the same passion for the early years, from which we both gained this passion from our mother Kylee, who has been an incredible advocate for the early years and children, learning and development for well over 15 years!
You clearly have a vested interest in early education, how do you will pass down your passion for lifelong learning to your child and the children in your care?
I share such a strong belief in connections with my children, and equitable respect. I believe through allowing the children to be equal participates in their own learning and program, this is how a passion for lifelong learning will be withheld years into the future. I want the children to be excited to learn , and strongly believe this excitement and eagerness to learn will set them well up into the future.
What centre do you work in and what’s your role?
I am an early childhood teacher (ECT) for Kids Capers Childcare and have been a long service team member for the past nine years! I currently teach a kindergarten program from our Samford service.
